Attach two jacks to the roof by pulling up a tab of one of the shingles sliding the top.
How to nail roof jacks.
Step 1 check out the roof.
Drive a nail in each slot and pound it down in such a way that it is level with the metal of the jack.
Nail the cut off shingle into place about 6 inches from its lower edge.
Next drive a nail at the bottom part of the jack in order to secure it on both ends.
Make sure that you don t push it all the way inside your roof since you might damage it.
Make sure to keep nails out of the tar strip as you work.
Use a ladder against a side of the building to climb to the roof edge.
When finished pound the nails the rest of the way in cover the nail heads w mastic add tabbing cement and puch the exposure of the shingle back down into place.
Each jack has a flat base with a series of nail holes.
Now you ve installed the first one.
Roof jacks appear to be installed by lifting shingles and only creating nail holes under the shingle.
You can usually feel sheathing nails which are driven into rafters through the underlayment attach a jack by driving two 16d nails never roofing nails into a rafter.

Ideally locate a rafter below the sheathing.
I have not inspected closely yet but i think in this case the nails do go through the exposed part of the shingle.
Step 2 attach two jacks.
So there is no exposed hole.
If not you will need to break the tabbing cement and carefully lift the exposed part of the shingle insert the jack and nail using a wonder bar or something.
