Carefully pry up the shingles around the roof jack using a flat pry bar.
Loosen and remove the small sheet metal screws that secure the base of the cap to the riser using the appropriate.

Slide a new roof jack sized to fit your vent pipe.
Position an extension ladder at the edge of the roof in line with the rain cap that will be replaced.

Grip the cap with both hands and attempt.

You need to gently pry up the overlapping cap shingle next to the cap you want to replace.
Hammer a roofing nail on each side of the shingle five inches from the bottom edges and one inch from the side edge.
