I don t really have a problem with the roof penetration since it s a detached uninsulated garage.
How to run wires in a van thru roof.
This is the least favorable option as it is not reversible.
This will make it easier to run future wire that can take advantage of the same route.
Run the wires down through the ladder frame and enter from under the van.

If you run the conduit cables over the side of the roof or down over the gutter that seems to be pretty ugly.
Alternatively run a conduit of some kind from the roof to under the van.
I ve read through the comments and seen where the leds have been mentioned before but i m still confused most likely because i seen another wiring diagram where the leds are run in parallel red wire of the leds connect to red wire of basic switch then a separate red wire comes off the same switch runs to the positive terminal of the fuse block.

This option is quite self explanatory where a hole is simply drilled through the outer roof skin and wires passed through a rubber grommet into the roof cavity and fed down into the vehicle.
We will hole saw a 3 4 hole and put a snap in plastic grommet in it to protect the wire from the sharp edges of the sheet metal.
Had to cut off the connector and use butt connectors but works great and no drilling through the cab.
I have installed literally hundreds of lightbars on police cars over the years and we always drill the roof and leaks are exceptionally rare.
It seems you would need a pretty large roof penetration to run the conduit or cables directly through the roof.

Then run the required wire through it.
That way water can not stand around the penetration and eventually work its way through.
Maybe it is just me but drilling a hole through the floor and grommeting it seems much less intrusive than going through the van roof.
Normally wiring not accessible does not need to be in conduit.
Consider running an exterior grade conduit pipe or hose instead of the wire especially for long runs.
Best policy is to use bulkhead connectors and not run wires through.
Run the conduit over the edge and bring it in through the gable end or eave.
Then we run the wires through and silicone the hole to keep the water out.
2nd best a weatherproof bulkhead fitting.
I want to know how you run the wires from the roof discretely to hide them.
