How to install rainwater gutter.
When installing gutters set the proper slope by driving a nail 1 2 in.
Set two 2 inch thick concrete pavers on the ground directly below the downspout outlet.
Rotate the gutter upward until its back edge slips into the hooks at the top of the back of the brackets as shown.
Through the screw mounting hole in each bracket drill a 3 16 inch diameter hole in the front edge of the gutter.
Next the flange goes in from the inside of the gutter with more seam sealer to waterproof the joint.
Raise the gutter to the chalk line and fasten each hanging bracket by screwing through the fascia and into the rafter tail.
For every 10 feet of gutter from this measurement and mark this distance at the low end of the gutter run.
Start by resting a level on the roof near the high point of the gutter.
Set a rain barrel on top of the concrete pavers.
At the downspout locations trace the outline of the flange that will connect the gutter and downspout then punch through it with a sharp chisel.
You want to position the gutter below the roof but not too high.
Install hanging brackets onto the gutter positioning one in front of each rafter.
The gutter should be sloped towards the downspout so that water properly drains in that direction.
Measure and record the distance from the bottom of the fascia board to this nail.
Finish off the curves with sheet metal shears.
Secure the gutter to the bracket with a 1 inch long 8 32 stainless steel machine screw and flanged nut.
Afterward insert a 1 inch 2 5 cm 8 32 stainless steel machine screw through the hole and cap it with a flanged nut to secure the gutter to the bracket.
